Sticky Apple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls

These Sticky Apple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls have the softest dough, with swirls of buttery, gooey brown sugar and cinnamon apple pecan filling. Then they’re drizzled with a sweet glaze and sprinkled with more crunchy pecans!

If our Grandma’s cinnamon rolls and our puff pastry apple hand pies had a baby, it would be these delicious Sticky Apple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls – and what a sweet baby it would be! 😀


These homemade apple pecan cinnamon rolls are perfect for cozy weekends and holiday guests. You can bake and glaze them ahead of time, freeze ’em and then put them in the oven on time-bake the night before and you’ll wake up to the smells of cinnamon and apple the next morning!

One of our favorite fall flavors is apple, and we look forward to this season every year. They’re sweet and tart, super good for you and they taste amazing. Plus, I get to create a new apple recipe just for you!

Ingredients
Dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 ounce dry active yeast, one packet
  • 1 egg, room temperature and beaten
  • 4 1/4 cups unbleached or all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Kneading:

  • 3/4 cup unbleached or all-purpose flour, separated according to instructions

Filling:

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups apples, finely chopped
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon unbleached or all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Glaze:

  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions
Dough:

  1. Heat the milk and butter in the microwave until warm and the butter is melted, give it a stir. Add the sugar and stir. Pour in the yeast, stir again and set aside for 5-10 minutes, or until foamy on top. Then mix in the beaten room temperature egg.
  2. Whisk the flour and salt together in a bread container or mixing bowl. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until thoroughly combined.
